Aivis Rez5K Zons

I’ve worked on various stream/broadcast/video projects by producing video and design assets – animated backgrounds, stingers, overlays and creating intros, promos, filler – have been a part of production start to finish.

Note that generally I do not design the projects unless stated otherwise.

— PROJECT NAME

Starp Rindām

— DESCRIPTION

Very basic and clean intro with audio for a fantasy football talk show.

— DATE

— PROJECT NAME

Augstākā Līga

— DESCRIPTION

Relatively minor revision of the set that was used for Gols, *uj, štanga! Qatar streams. Recolored stadium, new desk, new intro & graphics.

Everything 3D was modeled and rendered in Blender with extra fx and compositing in After Effects. Intro 3D scenes came pre-rendered from the template.

Show fully designed by me (except for TV content). Technically not produced live, but has the same workflow.

— DATE

06.04.2023 – 12.06.2023

New intro made from a template in After Effects (3D scenes reordered & recolored, made a new outro). Minor rework for the stadium in Blender, new desk.

00:30 Stream intro

00:40 Front-facing layout, caster names

01:05 Subscribe, like CTA animation (reused)

Thumbnails have also been updated to differentiate this show from the previous production. No longer responsible for teasers.

— PROJECT NAME

Gols, *uj, štanga! FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022 Special (18 episodes)

— DESCRIPTION

For the Qatar World Cup I had to make a new stadium. Here the only reused assets are the table and TV, which received only minor tweaks from the previous build.

Everything 3D was modeled and rendered in Blender with extra fx and compositing in After Effects.

Stream fully designed by me (except for most content in TV)

— DATE

20.11.2022 – 18.12.2022

New intro made in After Effects. Major rework for the stadium in Blender.

00:00 Stream intro/waiting screen

01:10 Front-facing layout

01:50 Content showcase layout

Compared to the previous stadium this one has less moving elements, but it is more sophisticated in all other aspects. Larger in size, more complex layout, better lighting, better background.

Thumbnails are slightly updated S2 designs to match the Qatar theme.

Stream teasers also received a reskin. See example here.

— PROJECT NAME

Gols, *uj, štanga! S1 EP23 – S2 EP12

(59 episodes)

— DESCRIPTION

Starting with EP23 we deployed a new stream design where the structure of the stream remained the same, but everything received a visual overhaul.

Everything 3D was modeled and rendered in Blender with extra fx and compositing in After Effects.

One of the most important properties for this design was to make it as modular as possible so elements can be easily replaced without re-rendering the whole scene. A good example of this is the current seating design and banners – banner content & seating colors have been adapted in support of Ukraine. Originally the seats were red and the banners had logos of other Betsafe projects.

Stream fully designed by me (except for most content in TV)

— DATE

23.02.2021 – 16.11.2022

The intro is reused from a previous version of this project, which I didn't make. Practically everything else is new to this project.

Front-facing layout: 00:00

Content showcase layout: 01:24

Background:

The main building windows glow and have a procedural shifting noise texture. The banners are on a cycle where the content swaps places every x seconds. I used a soccer field model as a base and remodeled most of what you see.

Foreground:

The desk is an original model that I made myself, but the accessories on the right are usually publicly available models with edited materials & normals.

I reworked the logo in the desk to fit a horizontal layout and the info bar is now part of the table.

Featuring content (01:24):

Extra content is now featured in 2 places – on a TV screen behind the hosts and in the desk itself.

02:53 Viewer comment in the desk

12:35 Like & Subscribe animation in the desk

One of the post-stream teasers to promote latest episode:

— PROJECT NAME

Blast Premier Spring Groups – Latvian Coverage by GOEXANIMO

— DESCRIPTION

Very little was necessary for this event as a lot of the content comes from Blast. I had to add some animations to the backgrounds, animate a 3D drone & text for the waiting screens and edit a couple of highlights after each stream to post in Instagram stories as promos.

— DATE

27.01.2022 – 07.02.2022

— PROJECT NAME

Gols, *uj, štanga! S1 EP01 – EP22

— DESCRIPTION

For this project I was both video editor and designer. In this version we reused some of their past assets and reworked the visual structure of the stream.

Besides stream visual assets I also designed the thumbnails, made timestamps and edited short promos after each stream.

There were also some irregular extra tasks such as equalizing logo sizes, making memes, editing short extra videos etc.

Stream fully designed by me.

One of the post-stream teasers to promote latest episode:

— PROJECT NAME

SPELET.LV CS:GO Academy

— DESCRIPTION

The focus for this event was to produce the absolute best CS:GO LAN experience that Latvia ever had. Despite the many compromises behind the scenes, I believe the goal was achieved, without question.

Video production for the live event on my end wasn't too major.

Backgrounds, transition, stream & team intros. I put more time into the pre/post-event content.

Out of everything I produced my favorite element would definitely be the stinger transition. It's just so good. Definitive second would be the fragmovie followed by the team intros, which were shot and edited the day before the event.

— PROJECT NAME

Madden Europe Invitational

— DESCRIPTION

The very first stream that I actually had to design on my own. Of course I did use feedback, it was reviewed multiple times, but I was assigned as both designer and video editor for this project.

I'll begin with saying that I just wish that I could've done more. Sadly due to time and budget constraints there simply was no way around it. That's the reason why most elements are static and there's practically no animation.

But regardless, I'm fairly happy with how the designs turned out. Obviously there are things I'd do differently if I had to do it again, and that's what I value the most out of this project – design process experience.

— PROJECT NAME

LG OLED evo Rocket League Baltic Cup

— DESCRIPTION

The goal with this project was to insert in-game assets in as many places as possible. Rocket League has a fairly rich tool set for video production and it is fairly similar to CS:GO, easing the learning curve for me.

There were some 3D animations in this project, but nothing too grand. The intro was partly made in Blender, but that was mostly environment design and lighting work. The stinger transition was fully made in Blender with the logo being transformed from 2D to 3D almost by hand.

Most of it came down to learning the replay tools and extensions, which I'd say I did fairly quickly. I did run into a handful of bugs when using ReShade and BakkesMod, but I think that it still turned out looking pretty decent.

Those aforementioned problems, however, only really surfaced when working on the promos and highlights. The process of recording assets for stream overlays was more fluid overall, even if it did require more calculation to get things right.

— PROJECT NAME

FIBA Esports Open III

— DESCRIPTION

FEO3 came on a very short notice and so there wasn't any time to add any complex new ideas.

All I contributed to FEO3 was a refresh to already existing elements and compiling last stream highlights. Stream intro needed more country flags, text update and the same went for the participating countries overview, which needed a slight rework to accommodate the increased participant count.

— PROJECT NAME

FIBA Esports Open II

— DESCRIPTION

The core idea for the second FEO iteration was to lessen the vast amount of video assets for each stream and add more automation.

The new stream elements that I had to work on were participating countries overview, background loop for the matchup scene, last stream highlights*.

All of the 3D animations received minor changes, mostly in colors to better match the general stream aesthetic. The intro needed extra flags added.

— PROJECT NAME

LG OLED FIFA Baltic Cup

— DESCRIPTION

Fairly small scale project video production wise.

Pre-event promo, stinger, animated backgrounds and some filler content.

For me the most interesting parts of this project would be figuring out how to animate brush particles and working on the product promo.

Aside from that and learning how to use the replay system in FIFA21, this was all pretty straight forward.

The project covered two events:

1) Season 2 Pro Series Europe

2) Season 2 Finals

Both were held in the same venue, back to back. Stream overlays were mostly the same, but the edited background content was different.
